Hi all,

we provide a quarter based statistic about clicks and impression to all our customers. Unfortunately they try to "review / compare" these numbers with their own Google Analytics evaluations and said sometimes, that "from our website (referrer)" the cannot detect/notice any clicks.

So obviously the click on an Ad Agency banner is not being transferred to GA. Is there a way to do this (may be with an event tracking), so that we can track the clicks on an Ad Agency banner also in our own GA statistic and not only with the own Ad Agency statistic algorythm to create more confidence to our numbers?

Thanks

Jens

Hi,

We will have again a look over the code who record clicks and impressions on ads and if there will be something to be improved we will do for sure.
Thank you,
Alin

Hello,
There is no way to perfect match the AdAgency clicks and the Google Analytics; AdAgency is adding clicks in database and then redirect the user to the external site.
Also, there is no way that GA don;t record any single click! I mean, if you actually click on an ad on your site and the click is opening external site they should record a click unless if they set in GA to not record clicks from your site IP.
There is nothing to be added in AdAgency to make this work because it just should working. Make sense?

Thank you,
Alin

Hi Alin,

thank you for the response. However, to be honest, this is not the answer I expected. I have asked you to explain the huge differences between the AdAgency statistic numbers and the numbers coming from GA.
I have also described you our approach (with the tracking event in GA) to try to find out what's really going on with clicks and impressions of the AdAgency ads.

Obviously there is a reason why the algorythm in AdAgency is counting more events than the GA algo (may be due to robots, worms, etc.) So it would be great if you (respectively your dev's) can go over the code and will give me a short notice when they have finished their investigation, so that then I can update my AdAgency version.

Thank you

Jens

Hello Alin,
thank your very much for your response. May be my question was poorly placed or I don't understand your answer ;) .

We have big differences between the clicks for an ad which belongs to our client coming from the AdAgency report and the clicks of this customer which is tracked by our own GA report with an tracking event AND on between the GA report of the customer itself.
We're not talking about a "perfect match". I know, this is unrealistic. But we're talking about let's say 100 clicks in the report of AdAgency, and no clicks at GA on the report of our client.

Our own GA tracking event of a costumer unfortunately realized only a click when finding a string (for example finding the string in an article). Therfore all the clicks on the AdAgency ads are not counting (because in this URL there are not the string of the customers).

So hopefully my explanation is better now and you have an idea how to solve this issue.

Very much appreciate this!

Regards

Jens

Hi,

I understand your point, but I am not sure how your ads are created when you said:

"Our own GA tracking event of a costumer unfortunately realized only a click when finding a string (for example finding the string in an article). Therfore all the clicks on the AdAgency ads are not counting (because in this URL there are not the string of the customers)."

I guess this is an affiliate ad that contain more ads from different customers? and for some there are no clicks? because I am not sure that AdAgency is prepared to collect and process these types of data.

Can you please give me some more details?

Hi Alin,

well, all of our costumers ads are "Standard" ads NOT affiliate ads like this one: http://www.developmentscout.com/component/adagency/adagencyAds/click/4419/26/1097.

Therfore one ad belongs to only one costumer. No exception. As you can see in the example above, there is no company name in this URL (for example this ad belongs to SCHAEFFLER). So I have no chance to track a GA event with the string of this ad/costumer.

The only statistic of how often this ad has been clicked comes from AdAgency. But IMHO this statistic could affected through clicks of robots, worms etc.
When my customer would like to see how often a click of this ad comes from our website to his website, he looks at his GA account and filters the numbers by the referrer - and most often - he finds nothing.

To have an idea how often a customer has got a click from our website in general, we created a tracking event in GA. This event looks at defined strings to realized if there was a click or not. In the example above I would searching for "Schaeffler" and every time when there is a click on an article which contained "Schaeffler", I got a click event in GA.

Unfortunately this attempt doesn't work with the ads from AdAgency, because there is no "company string" in the URL of the ad from the customer. So again, the only numbers I have to tell the customer how often his ad has been clicked comes from AdAgency and sorry, but I don't trust them...

If there would be another way to get more confidence in this numbers, I would highly appreciate it.

Best regards

Jens
